Balancing your Hormones is Delicious

We loved chatting with Gita from Neeshi about how she created her delicious hormone balancing product, Neeshi. You can find the whole interview on YouTube @powerbeautycollab along with interviews from many other PBC founders.

How did you come up with the idea for Neeshi?

I started Neeshi for my girls. I didn't have the intention of launching a brand. I was working in tech at the time. My oldest daughter was bedridden during her menstrual cycles. She had severe cramps, a heavy flow and acne. I knew exactly what she was going through. When I was that age, I had horrible periods and my mom eventually put me on birth control which didn't really make it better. My periods were a little lighter but I had a lot of new symptoms -- headaches, stomach aches, weight gain, digestive issues. I didn't realize it was from the pill -- which works great for so many people but just didn't work well for me. I didn't want her to go through that so I started doing a lot of research around functional foods. My grandmother used to use food for healing. When we came up with the right formula, it was amazing. Her skin started clearing up. her mood was super balanced and her period was much more manageable. And for me, I noticed the same thing. My perimenopause symptoms went away.

How do you use Neeshi?

The dark cacao spread is made with almonds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, cacao, coconut and sugar. You have a spoon of cacao spread every day. You can put it on toast, put it on fruit or mix it in your coffee or just eat if off the spoon. You have one serving a day for the first full month and after that, if you are consistent you can use less. We also have protein powders because I wanted to give people a nut free option -- vanilla, cacao and cacao peanut butter. So many women need protein but also a boost of fiber. People will put it in pancakes, smoothie, coffee. You can use the product so many ways.

How are your daughters involved in the business?

My 3 girls are my sales force. My oldest daughter does a lot of our marketing and graphics, photogaphy, web. My middle daughter is involved in recipe development with me. My youngest helps me pack orders or put stickers on packaging. They are all involved in our pop-ups. We do a lot of them and they can all do it by themselves at this point. It's all about finding what they love.

What's next?

We've actually shrunk our product line from cold-ship products to dry ship products. We just launched on Amazon. So for the near term, we're focused on that.
